In eastern Indonesia, the peak skipjack fishing season generally range in transitional season I (April, May and June) to the east early in the season. In Maumere (NTT), the peak season occurred in February and November, the west end of the season and late season shift II.
The range of months of winter fishing skipjack and tuna using a tow tuna fishing gear as follows:
Makassar Strait to the south (March-July)
Flores Sea (September-March)
Banda Sea (September-March)
Aru waters (September-March)
Arafura Sea (August-May)
Seram Sea (August-March)
Molucca Sea (August-March)
Tomini Bay (October to April)
Banda Sea which reaches 10 000 m depth is one of the tuna fishing spot (especially the big eye tuna) in eastern Indonesia. Fishing season in Banda Sea reached a peak in November.
